Happy Fourth of July, and Canada Day...

USA

Hello and welcome to a shortened version of the TundraTalk. I just want to wish you all a happy holiday this weekend. Fourth of July is always one of my favorite holidays simply because you get to drink tasty beverages in the great outdoors and you also get to blow shit up. Fireworks my friend, fireworks.

We are going away to Jasper this weekend and we have a good drive ahead of us. I will of course take my iPod with me and I was thinking of making a playlist for the trip. Then I thought I would share the artists that are on it with you. So here we go...

Dixie Chicks - The long way home - Donna bought this the other day and I listened to it. I know you are saying "Chris, what the hell, that is country music". Well, Rick Rubin produced it, and it is damn good. Besides, the Dixie Chicks were right, and I know that burns the hell out of a lot of right wingers. SHOW ME THE WMD'S. Nothing more patriotic than questioning your government. Nick, save it, I can write you email for you so just leave it alone.

Gear Daddies - You can't go wrong with the Gear Daddies. Shawn Hauser once said that he thought that Billy's live bait was the best road album he ever heard. It just made him want to hit the road. You are right my friend, you are right. Martin Zellar's Born Under album is right there with it.

Replacements - Nuff said.

Liz Phair - Liz Phair. Just good rock n' roll here. Liz Phair is also a great lyrical album.

Great Big Sea - Turn Nothing better than a good kitchen party and the Great Big Sea have proclaimed themselves as the best Kitchen Party Band. Great newfie music.

Tina and the B-Side Movement - Young Americans - Nothing more patriotic than an album with the title Young Americans.

Soul Asylum - Live from the Grand Forks Prom - More great midwestern rock.

Wilco - Summerteeth - Great road music. Johnny H and Popkey and I saw these guys in Madison. Made the road trip. Ah, good times.

Neil Young - Living with War - This is a great album. Please go buy it. Great Canadian singer.

OddsnEnds

Dinosaur Jr, Danko Jones, Tragically Hip, Weezer, White Stripes, Violent Femmes, The Presients of the USA, Johnny Mellencamp, Nirvana, The Clash, Big Audio Dynamite, Grnals Barkley, Foo Fighters, G. Love and Special Sauce, and of course the Barenaked Ladies.

Gonna Be a great roadie...

Canada

Happy Canada day also. The jersey I am wearing was sent to me by James Williams, of the Regina Williams', and it is an authentic Gretzky 99 jersey. NICE. I will get that bad boy autographed the next time he is here. That was unexpected and very appreciated. Thanks James. Also on the unexpected and appreciated front. During the playoffs Robbie DuPuis, of the Chicago soon to be Minneapolis DuPuis', sent me a whole box of Funyuns. That Was Awesome!!! I would show you a picture of me and the box but, well, uh, they are gone. I ate them and shared them with non believers here in Canada. Truly the only manly snack. Currently not available here in Canada.

Speaking of Canada Day, Robby Mac, of the LA Robby Macs, sent me a note for all of those who are in Edmonton, His bro is hosting a party at Overtime. He descibes it as such...

"It is, as the kids say, Chillaxed ( i guess thats a combo of chill and relaxed or else someone who is chilling might get axed!)
Either way all are invited!"

thanks Robby consider it passed on. Here are a few pics to add. Have good weekend....
