Game four from the press box
Game four was not a great game on several levels. The Oilers power play sucked. The Oilers lost 2-1 and face elimination for the first time in this playoffs. The Hurricanes go back to Carolina with a 3-1 lead and close it out on home ice.
Now as far as the celebrity watch goes, I scored big...Check it out...
Me and Barry
Barry Melrose, the man with the mullet, the guy who used to host NHL 2 Night, my favorite hockey guy in the USA. He noticed me in the press box and needed to get a pic with the greatest podcast host on the planet. The host of TundraTalk, the podcast that does not suck, Me. No, not really, I just went over and took a pic with him. But I guess that story is better.
Coolio talking to Bettman
Okay, Gary Bettman was in town also. As you can see by looking at him he is evil. I would normally call him satan, but W has taken that title away from him. Just look at the evil in his eyes. Ruined hockey I say. Hey Gary, abolish the instigator penalty NOW!!!
I was looking at the list of people sitting in the press box and noticed that there was a dude from the Fargo Forum in the house. I went over and introduced myself and he could not believe that someone from Hazen North Dakota was living in Edmonton. Every once in a while it is nice to see someone from home. Terry Vandrovec was in town to cover the three guys from UND in the final, Matt Green, Mike Commodore, and some other guy I can't remember.
Bill Clement, Ray Ferraro, and Eddie Olczyk
I finally got over to the side of the rink that NBC had for their studio. Speaking of that, as you can see they are using a corporate box to broadcast from. I guess that someone had the tickets for that box for the whole playoffs but the NHL just jerked them for NBC. I bet they were not happy about that. As you can see Ray is in the middle. He is a TundraTalk vetran. Here is a wide shot of the studio...

Sportsnet's NEW team of hockey ANALysts
Normally at the start of the third period most camera guys are down under the bleachers getting ready for the end of the game and setting up their live shots. We get the lights, camera, and audio ready for go time after the game. We check and double check the feed and make sure all is working correctly. We also take some time to make sure that we can take some good pics. Above the Sportsnet boys make sure the set is all ready for the show by putting on thier own show.
The Score's hockey team
Ryan and I do it a bit differently. More acrobatic and more geared the kids. More hip and edgy. Two things I have never been in my life.
Then comes go time and we go into the rooms gather sound, chase interviews in the mix zone, and then go back and feed it. The live shots come shortly after that. Coolio intros sound bites and one on ones with players. Sometimes we get them to stop and tape it right there on the spot.
On a completely different note, Mike Commodore has the best hocky playoff hair going. Dude looks like Carrot top or Gallaghaer. AWESOME.
Chad spends the whole time with that phone attached to his head. He will have a growth in his brain soon.
Jordi and Ryan hurrying up and waiting.
EJ Hradek does a regular thing with the Score so that is cool. He works for ESPN the magazine and really knows his stuff. Generally we go hard for about an hour then we tear everything down. Which takes longer than it should usually. A lot of work. I usually get home by midnight. Not bad.
