Podcast number three and some old pics I found....

Podcast Logo

Hey everyone. Week three of the podcast to end all podcasts finds Adam Cook, of the Edmonton Cooks, joining me for a rousing interview. We discuss the usual things, 7-11, big screen TV, supermodels, and sports. CLICK HERE to listen to the podcast. Keep listening to the only podcast on the intranet that does not suck.

McKenna fire

NEXT: So Mckenna asked me about my past firefighting duties back in the 80's yesterday and she tried on my fire jacket. She is facinated with firetrucks and firestations. Whenever we pass one on the street she wants to go in and talk to the firemen and see the firetrucks. I got out my pictures and showed her pics of her daddy fighting fire. She thought that was pretty cool. I also found some pics that I forgot about and I thought I would share with the collective.

I fought fire for the National Forest Service for three seasons. Starting in the summer of 1987. My dad in my senior year came downstairs for breakfast one day and asked me what I planned on doing for the summer. I said I was not sure. He said he was and told me that he signed me up to fight fire and that I will leave a couple of weeks after I gradutate. Nice. No discussion, just pack your bags and go.

crew

The first pic is a pic of the Canyon Fire Crew circa 1987. The skinny guy in the doorway is me. Wow. Left to right, if I can remember are Joel Gullickson (Gulliver), Dan Pigman, Brian Allen, not sure, ME, not sure, and Geoff Johnson (Goat). Gulliver is no longer with us. He died in 1995 of a self inflicted gunshot wound. He had some issues. I miss Gulliver alot. He was the first guy I met when I went to the Forest Service and was on the crew all three years that I was. He was from Minnesota and was a very talented artist. He was my roommate all three years and a great friend. My favorite Gulliver quote, "Pete, when you are in nature, take only pictures, leave only footprints." He called me Pete. I miss that guy.

gulliver

Gulliver after a day of softball and beer.

Saw

One of my favorites. This saw was in the fire cache. I don't remeber anyone ever using the saw, but it sure looked cool.

Smoke

My Raiders of the Lost Ark pose. This one is way too cool. Not posed for? Yes.

Radio

This one is also very natural. I was making high level decisions on this one. Yeah, I worked a bit to. Once in a while.

Working for the Forest Service was a very difficult job with lots of hard work but it was a great experience that I would not trade for anything. I made some great friends, made some money, spent all that money, and hopefully learned a few things. Plus I have some great stories. Too many to tell here.

NEXT: I found some old wrasslin' pictures that I forgot I even had. These are from a few shows back in the early eighties.

Warriorone

This is a shot of the Ultimate Warrior about ready to slam Earthquake. This show was in Minot, North Dakota. Nick Chase, of the Fargo Chase's, was at this show with me.

MrPerfect

This is a picture of Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, RIP, shortly afte he called Nick and me Faggots. No really. Nick stood up just as Curt was getting in the ring and yelled to Henning "The Perfect Peroxide Pussy". It was really quiet in the arena so he heard it and so did everyone else in the arena. Henning stopped what he was doing, jumped down off the ring and walked right at us. Silence in the arena. We were sitting ringside, back when you still could get those tickets, and he walked right up to us. He said "Three little faggots all in a row." The crowd went wild. It was truly a great wrasslin moment.

Poffo

Here is the last one. A shot of Leapin' Lanny Poffo. Why I took a pic of him, I don't know. Here it is. If you want to see more pics from this event just click on the pic and look at the rest up on Flikr.

NEXT: Thy this site out CLICK HERE This is supposedly a test that they give pilots in the Air Force. You are supposed to keep the red dot out of the way of the other lines for at least 16 seconds. It is hard. The best I did was 8 seconds. Give it a go.

Oh, GET BACK TO WORK!!!!
