Congressman Earl Pomeroy, left, visits with military and veteran representatives in Minot Monday. From left are National Guardsmen Tony Mutzenberger and Steven Johnson of the 164th Engineering Battalion and Jim Clifford of the American Legion.
Nick Chase, of the US attorney's office (not the ones that Alberto Gonzales was firing people, I believe his office must be Bushie enough), sent me this link with a pic of Tony Mutzenberger, of the Army National Guard's Mutzenberger's. He made the news today. In probably one of the biggest dailies in the US of A. The Minot Daily News, that's right. Forget the NY Times, the only source for news that Nick Chase trusts is the MDN. I am a bit dissapointed that the reporter, Jill Schramm, missed the real story. Which is that Tony, a war hero/Actor, is headed off to the suck one more time for another tour of duty. If there is anyone who can clean up the mess over there it is Tony. Tony will be deploying as the Operations Officer for a battalion-sized SECFOR unit (HQs company is from ND, subordinate units from MN and IA) and will be back zagain "sometime in mid 2008". All of us here at TundraTalk, and all members of TT Nation wish him all the best and will be looking forward to his return to the US on time and on target.

Just think of how many papers they could move telling the story of a small town boy, turned award winning actor, turned all American war hero. Gold my friend, gold. I have half the notion to send that reporter an email letting her know that she has betrayed Edward R Murrow's journalistic ideal. She went to a story looking for journalism and she walked away with bla, bla, bla, bla, bla. Had she gotten the real story, she would have had kapow, blam, zowie. Yup what she got was a story about a blowhard politician/hypnotist, Earl Pomeroy, sitting in for a photo op, a bad one I might add. Come on Minot Daily News, hire some photogs. Reporters taking pictures is a bad idea. Exhibit A is the picture above.
CLICK HERE to read the story in it's entirety. No quotes from Tony. Tragedy. Oh well, Have a nice day and GET BACK TO WORK...
